Currently, the reconstruction of the events of January 6, 2021 is very public.

Meetings of the panel investigating the attack on the US Capitol are televised during prime time.

A member of this committee is Adam Kinzinger, one of only two representatives from the Republican Party.

He now addressed the public with a clear message: "The future will bring violence, I'll say that very clearly here."

He sits on the committee with Liz Cheney, much to the annoyance of his own party.

This had tried with power to prevent any involvement of its own representatives and even formally reprimanded Kinzinger and Cheney.

Kinzinger now said on the US broadcaster ABC that his own party should be held responsible for future excesses of violence.

"As long as we don't manage to tell people the truth, we can't expect anything else," says Kinzinger.

With his participation in the body, the politician has made powerful enemies in his own party.

And the drastic criticism of his decision also has personal consequences for Kinzinger.

In the ABC interview, he described specific threatening letters that he had received in his private mail.

It threatened to kill him, his wife and the couple's five-month-old child.

'I've never received or even seen anything like it.

And it was apparently sent from the surrounding area, "explained the 44-year-old.

Attack as a logical consequence of the lies

Kinzinger described the outbreak of violence on January 6 as the result of the non-stop lies of ex-President Donald Trump and significant parts of the party: "If you really believe that the election was undermined and democracy was stolen, then that's the logical consequence."

Trump claims to this day without any evidence that he was deprived of victory in the 2020 presidential election by electoral fraud.

For weeks, the Republican tried to use the most questionable methods to subsequently overturn the election victory of Democrat Joe Biden.

Resistance to the outcome of the election culminated in the attack on the Capitol, which the investigative committee in Congress is now working on.

Trump supporters stormed the seat of parliament in Washington on January 6, 2021.

The US Congress met there to formally confirm Biden's election victory.

The violent crowd wanted to prevent that.

Several people died in the attack.

No basis for claiming Mike Pence

Republicans had described the unprecedented attack in a February document as an act of "legitimate political discourse" - and punished Kinzinger and Cheney for their committee work.

Both are outspoken Trump critics and largely isolated within their own party.

The relationship between Trump and Mike Pence recently came into focus at the public hearings.

In January 2021, the latter chaired the Congress session in his role as Vice President – legally a purely ceremonial task.

Trump had previously openly called on his deputy to block the procedure.

So Pence should help him to win the election afterwards.

Pence's adviser at the time, Greg Jacob, said at a hearing in the US Capitol attack committee last week that an intensive review at the time concluded that "there is no reasonable basis for concluding that the vice president exercised this power." Has".
