A journey rich in cultural and media achievements and practical stations by the great writer and scriptwriter Hassan M. Boussef was the focus of the dialogue seminar that was held today in the hall of the Cultural Center in the city of Tartous.
The symposium moderated by writer Mervat Ali, during which Youssef stressed that despite the opportunities and offers that were presented to him to work abroad, he never regretted not leaving his homeland, Syria, and his family for him are the most precious in his life and richer than all those offers.
And he indicated that he tries, through his works, to present a formula parallel to reality and not identical with it at all, stressing that art is the finest form of economy.
The press did not restrict the writer Joseph, but the lesson was in its soil, according to his expression. If it was inside a small basin, it remained the same, and if it was planted in a garden, it became a giant, explaining that he enriched himself by himself, despite the diversity of the fields of work he went through, and each field needs a lifetime to complete it, from English literature to several aspects, such as painting And plastic art, story and other arts, but he lived a love of cinema from the first movie and adored it to the point that he was standing at the door of Paradise Cinema in Jableh and learned to write the script by listening to dialogue and imagining characters and events.
The almighty scriptwriter refuses to call him self-made, because he is not self-made, because the self-made, according to his expression, is the one who suffices by himself.
Youssef tells how literature was what took him to the press, where he started with the collection of short stories in 1976 by challenging him with a university colleague to write a story, so victory was his ally and his first story was published in the magazine Generation of the Revolution and here he saw that the word turned him from a ghost to a person. Unlike the fairy tales in which the hero wears the invisibility hat, so he traveled to the countries of the world with the wings of the word.
The most beautiful thing that life can offer to man, according to Youssef, are true friends. He recalls Fawaz Al-Sager of his generation, who described him as a dazzling person who is amazing because of the depth of his culture in the true meaning of the word, stressing that he is becoming more youthful, energetic and creative as he mixes with younger generations that breathe life into him and give him positive energy.
The audience’s interventions and questions directed to the writer focused on how to bring the young generation back to reading, culture and literature, restore the cultural situation to Syria as it was before, and try to re-brand issues inherited despite the passage of time on them, the possibility of approaching these issues in the current time, and how to develop the novice writer, which requires a lot of effort to reach to the desired goal.
