Latakia-SANA

A remarkable achievement recorded by second-year students in the Naval Engineering Department at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Tishreen University in Lattakia by designing a project of a bulk cargo ship model “Tishreen 2022” as a miniature of a real ship, under the supervision of their teachers who specialize in ship construction and design.

The project is an educational model of a bulk cargo ship with a reduction ratio of 1/100, with a total length of 3.35 meters, a width of 0.5 meters and a height of 0.35, while the height of the superstructures is 0.28.

The project required 971 very precise pieces, according to Dr. Rami Hawa, who is supervising the project, who pointed out to the SANA Youth Bulletin the importance of the project in acquainting the students with the precise structure of any type of ships, especially the ships of bulk carriers.

In turn, the engineer supervising the project, Ali Youssef, described the work as huge thanks to the participation of more than 100 students who were divided into 3 groups, each of which branched out into several categories. The project required 100 working hours at a rate of 3 sessions per week from 8 am to 3 pm in an atmosphere of fruitful cooperation between the students.

The engineer supervising the project, Ruba Asi, indicated that she, along with a group of specialized engineers, supervised the stages of designing the ship model, monitoring the students' work on a daily basis, and providing them with accurate feedback.

The student, Areen Hamdan, expressed her pride in participating in most of the stages of designing the model, which prompted her to search on the Internet for how to design the types of ships, which helped her understand and comprehend the smallest details.

Both students, Muhammad Koussa and Ali Khaddam, pointed out that their participation made it easy and simple for them to keep the parts of the ship away from the traditional methods of receiving information.

The two students, Muhammad Badawi and Alaa Ghazal, also talked about their role in securing the project's requirements of cardboard, tools and equipment such as scissors, tape, and feathers of different sizes and colors, which added a distinctive luster to this achievement.
