On the day of the open garden door, Helga and Karl-Heinz Stadler from Freising opened their green paradise.

There were surprises.

Freising

– After a break of several years, many gardens in the district were open to visitors again on Sunday.

Helga and Karl-Heinz Stadler, who opened the gates to their green paradise in the Eichenfeldsiedlung in Freising for the first time, also took part in the “Garden Open Day”.

Great enthusiasm

The couple took part in the Bavaria-wide campaign with enthusiasm.

One was not disappointed: All guests were very open-minded and interested.

From the former kitchen garden, in which everything that her husband's family needed to live on was grown, the garden oasis "gradually" developed over the years, says the landlady.

True to the motto "A garden is never finished", when the children were still small, a large part of the area was designed as a playground for the youngsters.

Around 600 square meters available

Later, when the children "left the house" and the grandchildren had grown up, the garden was laid out in such a way that it blossomed and hummed throughout the summer.

The couple have around 600 square meters at their disposal behind the small housing estate that was built in the 1930s.

If you are also a bird lover and breeder of bantams and tragopans, as is the case with Karl-Heinz Stadler, then this promises to be an interesting mix.

The tragopans, a species of pheasant, are at home in the dense and humid mountain forests of the Himalayan massif, says Stadler.

In a spacious aviary, he offers the powerfully built birds with the short beaks, which were first introduced to Europe in the 19th century, living conditions that they are used to.

So far he has even bred successfully.

He served as chairman of the poultry breeding club in Allershausen and the surrounding area for 38 years.

The couple has lovingly designed many outdoor seating areas.

coffee lover

"We are coffee lovers," the two reveal.

You need to spend the day in different, cozy corners to celebrate it with pleasure.

Garden chairs also invite you to linger under the old apple tree, which was planted when the house was built in the 1930s and has remained in place to provide shade ever since.

She gets her inspiration from magazines or from visiting gardens, reveals Helga Stadler.

It is green and blooming along the narrow, winding stone path that leads into the garden.

On the terrace, which faces the morning light, the colorful flowers also feel at home in pots and tubs.

A perennial border in the northern area gives the garden an almost park-like appearance.

The district specialist advice for horticulture and land management at the Freising district office organized the "Day of the open garden door" together with the district association of fruit and horticulture associations.
