The Anti-Narcotics Branch in Damascus arrested a person who was promoting fake foreign currency.
The Ministry of the Interior stated in a statement that SANA received a copy of today that, according to the information received, the Anti-Narcotics Branch arrested a person in Maaraba locality in Damascus countryside who was promoting a counterfeit foreign currency in the denomination of the US dollar, and seized 18,800 counterfeit US dollars in his possession.
The ministry indicated that the arrested admitted, during interrogation, that he possessed, promoted and sold counterfeit US dollars, indicating that the forged amounts had been confiscated, and that investigations were continuing to uncover all those involved in the case.
