Chaos in the Postal Company in the Periphery: "No Budget" | Israel today

First Swallow: Metula residents angry after branch in Moshava closes • Postal company: "As part of the extensive recovery program, the service is digitally accessible"

The reform of the postal market, led by Communications Minister Yoaz Handel, leads to the closure of post offices in the periphery due to lack of economic viability.

Just last month, residents of Metula were informed that the northern post office in the country would be closed and residents would have to travel to Kiryat Shmona to send letters and receive postal services.

The post office promised that the residents would continue to receive letters to the distribution cells.

However, it turns out that a formula set in the mail assigns the service provider four hours a week to distribute letters.

According to them, this time is enough.

In practice, residents are furious after the letters are piled up and do not reach their destination.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Communications claims that the letter services are digitized, and only a few of the letters arrive by mail, and more by electronic means, but in practice this does not happen, and the mail explains that it will take time for letters to be received by e-mail.

"The mail has changed"

A resident who turned to Yossi Geva, who is in charge of the post office in Metula on behalf of the Israel Postal Company, heard the following allegations: "The post office is undergoing changes. "And this situation exists all over the country, and what is left is only the distribution of the mail. The distribution is twice a week, with the mail being budgeted every time for two hours."

Motti Shposhnik, a resident of Metula, also contacted the post office and received no answers.

"I had to receive letters from the Social Security three weeks ago. I was told in the mail that there was a large arrears and they could not close the gap because there was no budget. This is money I was supposed to receive. It causes me tremendous damage and I am considering claiming the mail."

Israel Post's response: "Israel Post distributes letters at least twice a week throughout the country in accordance with the terms of the license, despite the dramatic and continuous decline in letter traffic over the past decade. As part of the extensive recovery program The variables will also be adjusted to the frequency of distribution of letters throughout the country. "

The Ministry of Communications did not respond.
