DAB Legislative Council member Chen Heng-pin said today (21st) that it is difficult to find a single room at a health station for Hong Kong people to return to the mainland for quarantine. It is recommended to make good use of the existing ones.

The epidemic is still ongoing, and the quarantine-free customs clearance between Hong Kong and the Mainland is indefinite.

DAB Legislative Council member Chen Heng-pin said today (21st) that it is currently hard to find a room in a health station for Hong Kong people to return to the mainland for quarantine. It is recommended to make good use of the existing isolation facilities to become a "post station in Hong Kong", such as the Kai Tak Fangcai Hospital , Penny's Bay isolation facility, so that citizens who want to return to the mainland can first undergo a seven-day quarantine in Hong Kong, and then go through the customs in a closed-loop bus to go through the formalities for entry.

He suggested that the government could allocate 12,000 beds in the isolation facility for the purpose of "posting in Hong Kong". If the epidemic situation in Hong Kong changes drastically, it can also be used for the isolation of confirmed patients.

Chen Hengpin pointed out in the RTHK program "Millennium Times" today that it is very difficult for Hong Kong people to return to the mainland. The Daily Health Station opens reservations every seven days, but each time there are only more than 1,000 rooms. I can’t get the reservation, will there be enough people to return?” He pointed out that there is even a case of fried cattle, so it is recommended to use the Penny’s Bay Quarantine Center with separate toilets for Hong Kong people to stay in closed-loop accommodation before returning to the mainland, and conduct daily testing.

The government can also recover the cost from residents

He pointed out that the authorities can reserve 4,000 beds for emergency return of mainland citizens, 8,000 beds are reserved for general citizens, and the rest are reserved in case the epidemic situation in Hong Kong worsens.

He also pointed out that if a confirmed case is found, relevant people can be arranged to seek medical treatment in Hong Kong, and the government can also recover the cost from the occupants.

Chen also emphasized that there are currently many quarantine facilities in Hong Kong, including Tsing Yi, Hung Shui Kiu area and the unused loop area. There are also makeshift hospitals, which can be used for quarantine if the epidemic situation is severe.

Cross-boundary bus drivers are well-staffed and can also check in shifts at the station

Chen Hengbin believed that the relevant facilities were built with the aid of the central government, and the purpose of which was determined by the Hong Kong government. He hoped that the new government could discuss relevant measures with the mainland and study with relevant mainland departments, hoping that it could be in line with the quarantine situation of Macao going to the mainland.

He said that he had talked with mainland officials and also believed that it was worth promoting.

As for the bus staff, he suggested that drivers can also check in at the post station in shifts, and take a seven-day rest period after sending people returning to the mainland through customs.

He believes that all cross-boundary buses are currently suspended, and there are sufficient manpower: "All cross-boundary vehicle drivers are not working, at least they can be allowed to return to work first."
