It's hot and dry, which increases the risk of forest fires.
Volunteers support civil protection during observation flights - and found what they were looking for right away.
Königsdorf – heat and drought are a dangerous mixture: at the weekend there was an increased risk of forest fires in the district.
Since Sunday, volunteers have been flying from the Königsdorf gliding center together with air observers from civil protection over the region in order to identify sources of fire at an early stage.

This time the Königsdorf glider pilots are challenged twice: They have to take over the routes of their colleagues from Ohlstadt, as the glider airfield there is occupied due to the G7 summit.
Near Eschenlohe, the observers came across a smoke development shortly after departure on Sunday - and informed the rescue services.
According to the Königsdorf gliding center, around 500 square meters of grass, bushes and shrubs caught fire there.
Otherwise, the flights on Sunday and Monday were fortunately without further fires.
