Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman arrived in Egypt yesterday (Monday) for his first visit outside the Gulf region in more than three years.
Ben Salman will also visit Jordan and Turkey.
Ben Salman's visit comes ahead of next month's visit by US President Joe Biden to Saudi Arabia, where he will arrive after a visit to Israel.
The prince, known as "MBS," will hold talks with Egyptian, Jordanian and Turkish leaders on strengthening mutual cooperation and issues of common interest, the Saudi news agency SPA reported.
Sources said that Egyptian Prince and President Abdul Fatah al-Sisi will discuss issues including the war in Ukraine and the coordination of the positions of the two countries ahead of a visit to Biden in mid-July.
Sisi greeted the prince at the Cairo airport last night.
Saudi Arabia has provided billions of dollars in financial support to Egypt since Sisi came to power.
Today Ben Salman is expected to visit Amman for talks with King Abdullah.
This is Ben Salman's first out-of-bay visit since the 2018 assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashukji at the Turkish embassy.
He visited Egypt in 2018 and Japan in 2019.
Biden said on Friday that he would visit Saudi Arabia not for the purpose of a personal meeting with the prince but for an "international meeting" where he would meet him, and the leaders of the Gulf states, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq.
