Evasive maneuvers on the A8: VW drivers want to protect animals and end up in the hospital themselves

A VW driver avoided an animal on the A8 on Monday evening and lost control – he ended up in the hospital himself.
Neubiberg – A 28-year-old from Munich tried to protect an animal on Monday evening – and took himself to the hospital.
At around 9:30 p.m. he was driving on the A8 in his VW towards Munich.
Shortly before the Neubiberg underpass, an animal that the driver could not identify crossed the highway, the police said.
The 28-year-old didn't want to run over the animal and tried to avoid it - he lost control of his car.

The Munich crashed his VW against the right-hand guardrail.
The driver was slightly stunned by the impact.
He continued onto the raised barrier at the beginning of the tunnel.
There the damaged VW came to a standstill and the driver could take a deep breath.
After medical first aid, he was taken to a Munich hospital in an ambulance, where he was examined as a precaution.
The car had to be recovered by a towing company using a crane.
A8 Neubiberg: The animal apparently escaped unharmed
Numerous emergency services came to the scene of the accident on the A8.
In addition to a patrol from the Holzkirchen motorway police, the Unterhaching fire brigade was also deployed with three vehicles.
In addition, around 20 firefighters helped to secure and illuminate the scene of the accident.

The right lane had to be closed for a short time, but there were no traffic delays.
An animal involved in the accident could not be found in the area and may have escaped with a fright.
