The days of the Ferris wheel at Tegernsee are numbered: it will be dismantled at the beginning of July.
In the end it didn't turn anymore anyway.
The reason: lack of staff.
Gmund
– It still towers white-blue in the sky over Lake Tegernsee – the Seeglas Ferris wheel.
Most recently, however, it was only used as a photo motif, it has not rotated since Pentecost.
Due to illness and because, despite an intensive search, no temporary staff could be found who wanted to look after the ride, the operation had to be stopped, reports operator Maximilian Fahrenschon from the innkeeper family from Rosenheim.
Next stop of the Ferris wheel is the folk festival in Murnau
In any case, the time for the Ferris wheel at Tegernsee will soon be over: it will be dismantled on July 1st.
The next stop is Murnau, where the Fahrenschon family is organizing the folk festival from July 8th.
"It goes from Tegernsee to Staffelsee, so to speak," says Maximilian Fahrenschon, who has fulfilled a great wish with the purchase of the Ferris wheel with its 16 gondolas.
Because: It is above all the Ferris wheels that are often missing at smaller festivals.
Good response from locals, little interest from tourists
Fahrenschon is quite satisfied with the guest performance at Tegernsee, which began at the end of April and lasted until the folk festival.
The 25 meter high wheel on the reserve parking lot in Seeglas was well received by the people of Gmund and the valley population, he says.
"However, we missed the tourists - they tended to drive past," regrets the operator.
Nevertheless, he could imagine returning to Tegernsee with his Ferris wheel.
Then, according to Fahrenschon, an alternative location might be found.
