In just over seven weeks, the G7 summit will take place at Schloss Elmau.

Around 15 organizations have now announced a huge demo in Munich before the first day of the summit.

Munich - The G7 summit in Elmau is not without consequences for the state capital: Around 15 organizations want to demonstrate for better climate and species protection and against hunger and poverty the day before the G7 summit starts in Upper Bavaria.

Specifically, the protest alliance calls on the heads of state and government to "draw consequences from the Russian war against Ukraine and to end dependence on oil, gas and coal," said those responsible on Tuesday.

Supporters include Attac, the Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz (BUND), the Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU), Welthungerhilfe and WWF Germany.

Thousands of people from Germany and Europe are expected to attend the major demonstration on June 25 in Munich.

However, the organizers have not yet given an exact number.

The summit meeting of seven leading industrial nations is planned in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen from June 26th to 28th.

The last G7 summit under the German presidency took place in the luxury hotel in 2015.

A number of protest actions against the meeting are also expected on site.

The organizers of the Munich demo emphasized that the G7 countries are responsible for the dramatic escalation of the climate catastrophe and the extinction of species.

"We are living in the last decade in which we can still avert the worst consequences of these catastrophes." The phasing out of fossil fuels is also a "decisive step for peace", it said with regard to the war in Ukraine.

Instead, what is needed is a decentralized expansion of renewable energies.
