Fight extreme poverty on earth - that's what activists are demanding from Chancellor Scholz before the G7 summit in Elmau in 2022.

They started several actions in Berlin.

Berlin - With an action in Berlin before the upcoming G7 summit 2022 in Elmau, the organization "Global Citizen" sent a signal to Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday evening (June 20).

The appeal: Scholz and the other heads of government of the G7 countries should end extreme poverty in the world.

A video projection with the voices of activists from the world's poorest countries was shown on Berlin's Alexanderplatz.

Women from Indonesia, Somalia, Nigeria, India and South Africa, among others, drew attention to the extreme situation in their countries and called for concrete action from the G7 summit participants to end poverty, hunger and the climate crisis.

Friederike Meister, Germany Director of "Global Citizen" is quoted as follows in a press release by the organization: "In view of the dramatic crises in the world, Germany and the other G7 countries must finally find the political will to make our world fairer and more sustainable.

Enough has been promised.

Enough has been said.

Now is the time to act.”

Activists are planning protest camps and demonstrations for the G7 summit in Elmau itself.

In any case, the G7 summit in Elmau has direct consequences for the local refugees - for them the housing problem is getting worse.
