The Center for Food Safety stated that it is actively following up on the detection of two Häagen-Dazs ice creams in Taiwan that contain the pesticide ethylene oxide, which is banned in the European Union. It has immediately contacted local importers and retailers to follow up. A preliminary investigation found that the affected Batches of ice cream have also been imported into Hong Kong. The Center for Food Safety stated that since ethylene oxide has been banned by the European Union, for the sake of prudence, the importer has taken the affected batches off the shelves and stopped the sale of the affected batches as instructed by the Center, and started recalling them.
