Through her Twitter account, Keiko Fujimori, the former presidential candidate and investigated by the Peruvian prosecutor's office for the alleged crime of money laundering, announced on Tuesday the end of her marriage to Mark Vito Villanella.
The leader of the opposition party, Popular Force, and who has run for the presidency of her country three times, wrote: “After extensive reflection, we inform you that Mark and I have decided to end our marriage.
We are doing it on the best terms and reaffirming our commitment to continue educating and supporting our daughters with much love.”

Fujimori added that she thanked Mark Vito for having “fought” by her side “in the midst of the most difficult circumstances” and for having suffered “terrible persecution” just for being her husband.
Keiko Fujimori, investigated for allegedly having received illicit money from the Odebrecht company for her presidential campaigns, has served preventive detention twice.
During one of them, her husband, who is also under investigation, went on a hunger strike outside the prison where, his wife, she was imprisoned.
Keiko Fujimori is the daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori, imprisoned for crimes committed during his government.
The Peruvian politician and Mark Vito met in the United States while studying and married in Lima in 2004.
