The children certainly learned a lot at the BBV day of action in Zolling: everything revolved around the topic of safety at six stations.

Zolling

– There are many dangers lurking on a farm and in agriculture.

The BBV district association in Freising is aware of this and therefore recently invited people to the child safety day together with the social insurance for agriculture, forestry and horticulture.

72 girls and boys came to the Hanrieder family farm in Haidhof (district of Zolling) to learn about the dangers and how to help in an emergency.

Divided into six groups, the children completed a total of six stations every 30 minutes.

Cleaning agents and disinfectants, acids, fuels and much more pose a great risk potential, Peter Kratzer explained to the children.

If used incorrectly, they can injure the skin and damage the lungs, among other things.

In order to be warned of such substances, the expert also presented the necessary danger signs.

If there's a fire, hurry is required - and caution.

This was explained by Zolling's commander, Wolfgang Westermeier.

It can also be dangerous in the forest, as the children of Bernd Mazzolini and Tobias Maier found out.

Plants such as rowan or yew are (life-)threatening if you eat the berries.

Hence the advice of the experts: "Always ask if you want to eat something in the forest." How dangerous it can be if you don't wear a helmet in the forest became clear in the practical part: Without a helmet, a head would, the experts with help a melon, seriously injured - a branch would fall on him.

However, if the head is protected by a helmet, the damage is often not that great.

If an accident has already happened, the ambulance will come – and all the children knew that.

Paramedic Markus Schmid and paramedic Cristina Körber from BRK-Readiness Freising patiently explained how this is equipped and what the team has to do.

The Zolling fire brigade showed the children what needs to be considered when dealing with fire: For example, they learned that grease fires can never be extinguished with water and that electrical equipment can break when powder extinguishers are used.

In addition, Zolling's commander, Wolfgang Westermeier, as well as Daniel Pathenhauer and Martin Lachner presented devices and equipment.

The "blind spot" can be dangerous for children.

The youth traffic school of the district of Freising was also on site.

Her main topic: the "blind spot".

Each child was allowed to take a seat in the truck - and found out that as a driver of large vehicles it is easy to overlook people directly in front of the car or on the side.

Therefore: "Always make eye contact with the driver," appealed Lena Bullok from the Freising police and Michaela Zapf from the Moosburg police to the children.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

The kids were allowed to let off steam at Michael Wenni's: Under the motto "Fit kids - movement is fun", a wide variety of strategy and movement games were played, with many children realizing that it's not that easy to run backwards - and then through it a cone course.

But motivated by Michael Wenni, everyone mastered the challenges.

After an exciting and interesting day, the children finally received certificates from MdL Benno Zierer - combined with a few words of warning: "A farm is always a construction site," he emphasized.

Therefore: “Keep your hands off everything that moves!

Look, yes, but don't reach there." And he urged the girls and boys: "Look at the others and take care of yourself if something does happen."

Safety advisor Christian Satzl was satisfied with the child safety day, which took place for the second time in the Freising district and for the third time ever: "The children were very interested and attentive." He is convinced that "the children got something".

And maybe, he hopes, this event can take place again in the district in a few years.
