According to the report, quoted by the Iranian news agency Tassanim, the unit operated in the Sistine-Baluchistan region in the east of the country, but the number of assassins arrested and their identities were not revealed by the authorities.

Meanwhile, media outlets affiliated with the Iranian opposition have released a report according to which a senior engineer in the Iranian defense industry was shot dead last night near the capital Tehran.

The assassins reportedly shot dead the senior engineer and two of his aides and managed to escape from the shooting scene.

The report did not release any verification from other sources and did not include photos or documentation of the assassination victim, as has happened in other cases in the past.

Iran is in the midst of a wave of assassinations and assassinations of senior figures in the country's top scientific body.

A senior Iranian official admitted for the first time yesterday that the nuclear scientist who was killed in a mysterious explosion at the nuclear facility in Perchin, was found dead as a result of "intentional sabotage", and in fact admitted to another assassination of a senior Iranian man.

According to a report by the Iran International news site, Muhammad Raza Hassani Ahanghar, head of Imam Khomeini University, the academic institution serving Iranian Revolutionary Guards cadets, said in a speech to the media that ".

The senior Iranian official called for "cyber defense" to be strengthened, hinting that the sabotage was carried out by hacking into the secret military research facility, located east of the capital Tehran.

The blast, which occurred late last month, injured another person and satellite images showed significant damage was done to a facility used by the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian Ministry of Defense for research in various fields, including, according to foreign sources, nuclear weapons development.

The death of the scientist is one death in a series of mysterious cases in the country in which senior officials in the nuclear, space and weapons production system in the country were found dead.

Various elements in the intelligence community have reported to the media that this is an ongoing series of sabotage and assassination operations.

Iranian sources also reported to Western media that Iran had added to its list of demands in the framework of the negotiations the cessation of the elimination of senior officials and scientists in the country.

Iran yesterday accused the United States of halting negotiations on the nuclear deal, claiming that Tehran is ready to reach a "good deal" that will allow Washington to return to agreements on Iran's nuclear program.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzadeh said at a news conference: "Even today we are ready to return to Vienna to reach a good agreement, if Washington fulfills its promises," Khatibazadeh said.
