Damascus-SANA

A new documentary book written in an innovative way that combines the personal and collective aspects, which Dr. Najah Al-Attar has provided to our national and Arab libraries alike, in which she summarized some of her long experience and accumulated experiences through many decades of work in the cultural, political, teaching and life fields as well.

The book, which Dr. Al-Attar titled “Personal Papers in Britain and the Homeland,” was unique in its combination of her personal life experience and the political experience through which she has been serving her country, nation and just causes and correcting what Western propaganda worked on to falsify facts about her and spread fabrications and false allegations in societies. Perhaps the West will succeed in pushing its people to stand with the existing regimes there, especially Britain and the United States, in their policies hostile to Arab issues.

In her new book, Dr. Al-Attar worked to present the reader in a picture of some stages of her personal life, in order to convey some of her ideas and experiences in an integrated, streamlined and graceful manner that touches both mind and soul. To what I have reached in the world of culture, thought and politics.

Briefly talking about her husband, Dr. Al-Azma, was met by a graceful elaboration that included many details about their travel together to Britain to study, specifically the University of Edinburgh, where he continued his studies at the prestigious Academy of Surgeons, while Dr. Al-Attar studied literary criticism to obtain a doctorate in this specialty.

Five and a half years between 1955 and 1959 she spent Dr. Al-Attar gaining knowledge and refining her experiences and experiences in Britain.. These years she devoted seven chapters under broad titles in a new book she wrote “Personal Papers in Britain and the Homeland” and detailed many details about her entire life at the university in particular and in British society in general, which is replete with many contradictions in dealing with various societal and intellectual issues, starting with expatriates and not ending with women, work and large class differences.

Under the title “The End of a Stage,” referring to the end of the stage of study and life in Britain, Dr. Al-Attar dedicated a new chapter in which she summarized the ideas and visions she concluded from that stage, stressing that every individual is responsible and every individual who does not feel responsible is a demolition factor and a stumbling block in the life of his nation. And that the sense of responsibility is what drives the writer to production and writing, and it is he who leads the heroes to battle, unaware of their unknown fate... And leaders to confront crises and overcome troubles... And the press to struggle in defense of an idea or belief in an ideal or in pursuit of the nation's interest.

The Harvard seminar, which lasted for several weeks and participated in its discussions, had a large share of the new book by Dr. Al-Attar, which revealed many facts about the exposed role of the Israeli occupation entity in the meetings held by American and Western universities under bright names and titles to pour poison into the fat by promoting the ideas of false Zionist propaganda. The hostility to the Arabs and their just causes that exploit the ignorance of public opinion about the history of our country, the secrets of Zionism and the history of Palestine.

Dr. Al-Attar also reveals in her book a dangerous aspect of the goals of the Harvard Seminar, who was speaking in that session about the Vietnam issue, as Washington officials tried to promote that America was defending democracy by bombing Hanoi and other cities in order to cover up the crime of using the atomic bomb, claiming that Washington was protecting the lives of the Vietnamese. Not to mention the persistence of American officials in falsifying the facts about the suffering of Negroes in America, as she says in her book, “How does America talk about freedoms and the protection of democracy, while it still lives in an atmosphere of terrible racial discrimination, with which slaves are sometimes reduced... in the manner that was common in recent times... A miserable aspect of life has been revealed to me that skyscrapers cannot obliterate, and the propaganda of freedom and liberation, and it will remain a disgrace condemning the humanity of the twentieth century.”

The last part of her book, which is located in 236 pages of medium pieces, and is one of the publications of the Syrian General Book Organization, was devoted by Dr. Al-Attar to memories and follow-ups from the homeland, which she personally experienced at the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies of the last century, and in which she touched the rooting of the Syrians in their land and their defense of their homeland and the victories of the October Liberation War, where she says : "In October, the image of June changed as if it had never been.. We were wondering.. Six years brought about all this change.. We almost do not believe," stressing that "the peoples have their right, their weapons and their unity, the first role of their success in their work remains entrusted to their leaders, when the peoples have capable leaders. It is achieving great success.”

Dr. Al-Attar concludes that “the enemy, and behind it America, is trying to create new illusions through noise and tumult.. We know from the experience of the days that have passed that these intimidations have their share of failure. Those who destroyed the myth of the enemy with their former American weapons are able to destroy the myth of the enemy with their subsequent American weapons.”
