According to official data, Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez won the victory in Colombia after obtaining 50.44% of the votes in the second round.
After the victory, Petro called for dialogue with opponents and said that he seeks to build democratic capitalism.
Two processes preceded his victory: in 2021, the country experienced weeks of social upheaval when the government proposed a tax reform;
In 2016 and after 52 years, the government of former President Juan Manuel Santos signed the Peace Accords.
