Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky stressed that the United States "bears responsibility for the food and fuel crisis in Syria."
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted Polyansky as saying during a session of the UN Security Council: “The information about the food and fuel crisis in Syria, for which the United States bears responsibility, is of increasing concern, given the sanctions imposed by Washington and the occupation of the northeast of the country.”
Polyansky pointed out that statements by Washington and a number of other capitals that the unilateral sanctions are in compliance with its international commitments, and the allegations about their precise and studied nature, "not only appear false and unconvincing, but also show the inhumane attitude towards civilians in Syria."
