At about 7 pm today (21st), a CLP cable trough caught fire in Yuen Long, causing large-scale power outages in Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun, and also affecting Tuen Mun Hospital.
A spokesman for the New Territories West Hospital Cluster said that some emergency services at Tuen Mun Hospital were affected, and a patient who needed emergency surgery had to be transferred to Pok Oi Hospital for surgery.
Three New Territories West hospitals activate backup power supply system
The spokesman said that due to the fire at the cable bridge in Yuen Long District tonight, the power supply of Tuen Mun Hospital, Pok Oi Hospital and Tin Shui Wai Hospital became unstable from 7 pm, and the hospitals immediately activated the backup power supply system.
The emergency and emergency departments of the three hospitals, emergency medical equipment in wards, and isolation wards with confirmed COVID-19 patients have maintained normal operations.
Some emergency services at Tuen Mun Hospital were affected, and a patient requiring emergency surgery was transferred to Pok Oi Hospital for surgery.
The night outpatient services of Yuen Long Jockey Club Health Centre and Tin Shui Wai Health Centre (Tin Shui Road) were also affected due to the power outage. Clinics must contact affected patients to make appropriate arrangements.

During the period of unstable power supply of medical facilities in the New Territories West Hospital Cluster, some lifts, lighting facilities and air-conditioning systems were affected.
