Sarah (9) will lead the children's guard of fool's island as a princess.

But she is still alone.

The prince is urgently wanted.

Geretsried – To be a princess once in a lifetime, to attract attention, to wave to the cheering crowd: For Sarah from Geretsried, this girl's dream comes true.

The fool's island of Wolfratshausen has chosen the nine-year-old to be the children's princess for the coming season.

Sarah already has the dress, her tiara is also ready.

The shoes are missing - and the prince.

"All the boys in my class play soccer," explains the blond girl the problem.

The nine-year-old is not shy, she asked all her classmates.

However, the interest was manageable.

Here: “Dancing is just as much fun as soccer,” says Sarah.

And "Boys can dance just as well as girls can play soccer."

The previous princesses always had someone in their family or circle of acquaintances, reports Melanie Pathisch, Sarah's mother and deputy youth leader at Fool's Island.

"But we're only girls," said the 33-year-old.

What happens if no prince answers?

"We haven't thought that far, I hope someone else will be found," says Melanie Pathisch.

Many a search for the prince charming may fail because the female demands are unfulfillable.

In contrast, Sarah's ideas are realistic.

"He should be nice," says the girl, one of the qualities that are important to him.

He must have strength to lift.

"Although I'm light, but it would still be good." And the child prince should be about her age.

"Between nine and eleven years," adds Mama Melanie.

And, probably the most important thing: "Fun dancing."

Dancing in the Guard: Fool's Island is plagued by youth worries

Sarah has had it since she was little.

When she talks about something, she might start to move.

In the house she likes to turn up the music really loud.

She has no preferences.

"The main thing is that you can dance to it." Since her older sister Leonie (13) and her mother are with the guards on Fool's Island, Sarah went to training early on.

She liked it so much that an exception was made and Sarah was allowed on stage as a mascot at the age of five.

"She looked at the steps and was able to do them," reports Mama Melanie.

The crowning glory, of course, is being able to be a princess now.

Sarah even stopped riding for this.

"Although I like animals too."

The royal couple will learn a waltz and rehearse the modern dances with the guard.

They could use reinforcements too.

Fools' Island in Wolfratshausen is plagued by youth concerns.

It's especially tight for those over 12, says chairman Franz Hübler.

Many members would have looked for other hobbies during the Corona period.

During the performances at the recent carnival, the youth guard was so cramped that "two children who fit because of their size had to help out," says Hübler.

And the adult princess had to look for a prince for two years.

Hübler would be happy to welcome a few new faces to training from September 18: "Just try it out once you're there, it's the most fun."

When "Prinz Notnagel I." was in office for eleven days

Wolfratshausen writes the year 1994, and the then Fools' Island board member Peter Steinberger reports in the proclamation of a problematic search for a husband for the lonely Princess Gerdi (Dannemann) I. "Either the men had no interest in office and princess" or the interest the candidate was too clear.

Like that of a butcher from Münsing, "who first wanted to know what Princess Gerdi I looks like".

Finally, another, Michael (Nussbaumer) I., is greatly applauded at Marienplatz.

Eleven days later it comes out: He was just the "emergency nail".

Princess Gerdi I did not want her husband, who was seven years her junior.

In view of his only 17 years of life, there was even an interview with the youth welfare office, according to Steinberger.

At the time, Nussbaumer was a trainee in the city administration and had to step in because the preferred candidate Robert (Plank) I. was on vacation and had not yet accepted.

In the end, Michael I handed over the scepter to the 26-year-old with relief.
