Apparently, magazines from a publisher classified as right-wing extremist were distributed at the AfD party conference.

Co-party leader Alice Weidel cannot explain that.

Riesa - How strong is the influence of right-wing extremists in the AfD?

Due to personnel issues and content orientation, the AfD is repeatedly confronted with the fact that the party does not sufficiently distance itself from right-wing extremist statements and make itself socially acceptable as a party represented in the Bundestag.

In an interview with ARD, co-party leader Alice Weidel started to falter.

At the AfD party conference in Riesa, Saxony, Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla were elected the new top duo of the AfD.

According to many experts, Björn Höcke, classified as right-wing extremist and under surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, secured further influence with this election.

The Saxon Interior Minister Georg Maier (SPD) even concluded from the party conference: "The AfD is a clearly right-wing extremist Höcke party here."

interview, Alice Weidel was confronted with the statements made by Christina Baum, who was newly elected to the AfD federal executive board.

She had previously called for a change in German citizenship law on social media that would exclude "black" people from German citizenship.

Weidel distanced himself from this, but also said in the course of the interview: "I can't answer that for you, what is right-wing extremist."

Does the party now have a problem with right-wing extremists?

The ARD journalist wanted to know more about Alice Weidel.

"Magazines are distributed free of charge at the entrance to the hall," he said, handing Weidel an issue of

AfD party conference with right-wing extremist magazine: Weidel does not provide an explanation – "What else can I say?"

"You can order calendars there, with titles like 'Men of the Waffen SS, highlighting their deeds in arms'," the ARD reporter noted and asked: "How can it be that something like this is completely normal with the AfD?

It's been out for three days at the entrance.

You must have invited them.” Alice Weidel merely replied, leafing through the magazine: “I don't know, I don't think we invited them.” And a little later: “I'm just surprised, I'm seeing this for the first time.” She was in front been "at work" and didn't notice it.

"I'll have to see that," she announced, but didn't comment further.

The ARD journalist asked how Weidel, as a co-party leader, could not know anything about it - after all, the publisher had set up an entire stand.

"Oh yes, actually?" replied Weidel.

"Well, of course that's..." she continued, and faltered.

"So what should I say to that?

I can't say anything more about that,” concluded Weidel.

There was no satisfactory explanation from the AfD co-boss with regard to the right-wing extremist magazine.

The AfD rejects the allegations of right-wing extremism.
