The Russian company, Gazprom, announced the suspension of pumping Russian gas through the (Turkish Stream) pipeline for a week, starting from the 21st to the 28th of this month, for periodic maintenance work.
The Russian TASS news agency quoted the company as saying in a statement: “The suspension of supplies via the Turkish Stream pipeline is a pre-agreed matter between all parties,” noting that Russian gas supplies to Turkey will continue through the (Blue Stream) pipeline, which underwent maintenance work last May.
The maintenance work on the (Turkish Stream) line took place during the period between June 22 and 29 last year.
It is noteworthy that the (Blue Stream) line was commissioned in 2003 and has a pass-through capacity of 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The (Turkish Stream) includes two gas pipelines, one to Turkey and the second to southern European countries, with a total capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas in year and began operating in December 2020.
