Because she breastfed her baby in a church because of bad weather, Julia-Marie R. was verbally abused by a stranger.
Austria - According to a recent survey by
MAM Babyartikel
, in which more than 1,900 women in Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part, more than 70 percent of mothers stated that they breastfed or enjoyed breastfeeding.
More than two thirds have already experienced negative reactions from the public.
Almost 40 percent of women find breastfeeding in public uncomfortable.
“As part of the survey, we received numerous testimonies from mothers who told us about unsolicited, sometimes very offensive comments and advice.
It doesn't matter whether it's breastfeeding or bottle-feeding - mothers are confronted with real 'mumsplaining'," explained Eline Strobl from

Mother scolded for breastfeeding her child in a church
Julia-Marie R. from Salzburg also experienced hostility because of breastfeeding in public.
The mother of a daughter (5) and a son (six months) told
heute.at
about her unpleasant experience.
When her son was just two months old, she had to feed him in the Basilica of Mariazell in Lower Austria.
Due to a storm and her baby's hunger, she took refuge in the church, which was hardly crowded at the time.
While the young mother was breastfeeding, a strange man noticed her and insulted her badly, although she "didn't reveal a millimeter of bare skin", according to
heute.at
.
Angrily she answered the stranger: "Half the history of art consists of the naked bosom of the Blessed Mother.
Or do you want to explain to me now that Mary teased Jesus with a bottle!”
Breastfeeding in public "nothing sexual"
For Julia-Marie R., breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world.
The native of Salzburg finds both embarrassed looking away and greedy squinting strange.
"I can't understand what must be so uncomfortable about it.
There's nothing sexual about it, and in the sauna we wiggle around with bare breasts, among other things.
In addition, you don't slap your chest on the table in public, but cover yourself, or you have developed your own method for the little hungry howler monkey to find the quickest way to the source," she explained

Singer and mother-of-two Sarah Engels recently revealed to her followers on Instagram where she prefers to breastfeed her little daughter Solea Liana.
