From now on, the town center enjoys top priority with the Schliersee municipal council.

This was determined by the committee in a working session.

Schliersee - In the discussion about the town center around the old Schliersee schoolhouse, there was indeed a lot more tension in it.

After the last school classes moved to Neuhaus, there was a working group that dealt with the town center, several information evenings and a survey among the citizens.

Over time, the view of the big picture has been lost, even though the municipality renovated the small gymnasium and added the kindergarten to the local history museum next door.

Lautererstrasse in front of the new building was also redesigned.

But: It was almost an isolated solution, born out of the need to create childcare places.

Objective of the working session: set priorities

The town center has not played a significant role in the municipal council, which has been in office for a good two years.

The panel now came together for a long-planned working session, for which Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) had set priorities.

As he now explains when asked, the town center ended up at the top of the list.

It's about the question of how the town center on Bahnhofstrasse, Lautererstrasse and Perfallstrasse should develop with the old school building as the central location.

The municipal council should not find the answers alone.

"We want to get together again before the summer break," says Schnitzenbaumer.

Then the how of citizen participation will be discussed.

Whether is out of the question.

In addition to the school building, the car parks at the train station and, most recently, the one on Bahnhofstrasse further north-west were also discussed as areas where the community could be active in some way.

Although there is isolated but loud resistance to the demolition of the school building.

While the town center is a long-term project, despite all the priorities, the number two on the list could go faster.

"Site and Road Construction".

It's about repairing the badly battered streets.

During the budget discussion, CSU spokesman Florian Zeindl said: "I ask the municipal council and administration to push the issue.

We haven’t been able to do that very well in recent years.” The budget for 2022 includes money for the Kurweg, Perfallstraße at the tennis court and Mesnergasse.

"It's about walking through the place with open eyes," says Schnitzenbaumer.

The goal is a higher quality of stay.

A small example could be the attachment of the parking lot to the funeral parlor of the cemetery, for which 50,000 euros are planned this year.

Municipal housing number three on the list

Of course: "Above all is the issue of affordability," the mayor continues.

This is probably also the reason why topic number three on the list of priorities – municipal housing – is somewhat stretched in the budget.

The construction area on Seestraße will not really be tackled until 2024.

After all, the conversion of the residential building on Miesbacher Strasse, which was bought from the railway assets, should be completed next year.

The list doesn't go further than three, and it shouldn't be any longer.

Schnitzenbaumer cites the issue of bike path construction as an example of something that the municipality is not currently pushing.

"But that's not the end of it," he affirms.
