In the corner of a rehearsal room, Pierre Guillois and Olivier Martin-Salvan, deprived of stage and audience by the coronavirus pandemic, fell on boxes.
Not being movers but actors, they began to improvise situations from this thankless, boring material, both fragile and resistant, with unsuspected resources.
Cardboard and cartoon, it does not take more for this duo, fifteen years of complicity and burlesque shows on the counter (
Bigre
,
Le Gros, la Vache and Mainate
), to stage a crazy journey.
There is Laurel and Hardy, schoolboy and panache, in these two comic bodies.
In
Les gros patinent bien
, we find an overweight actor sitting on a stool, in a three-piece suit (Olivier Martin-Salvan).
He speaks an incomprehensible sabir, close to English yoghurt.
At his side, a lean actor always on the move, in a bathing suit (Pierre Guillois), both a busybody and a restless prop man.
Panels and pieces of cardboard, with or without marker writing, create landscapes and characters.
On skates, on a scooter, in a plane or on the back of a mule, but without ever lifting his buttocks, the fat man seeks love, through a mermaid caught by accident and thrown back into the sea. After twenty minutes of this epic
povera
, we say to ourselves that the two zigotos will never last the distance.
We are wrong.
An hour later, they haven't exhausted the gags and tricks of their cardboard cabaret.
Created in December at the Théâtre du Rond-Point,
Les gros patinent bien
extends the pleasure to the Tristan Bernard Theater before moving to the Irish Cultural Center for a few performances as part of the Paris l'été festival in July.
