The Madrid City Council will appeal the annulment of the municipal license granted to a dozen ghost kitchens located wall to wall with a public school in the district of Arganzuela.

On May 22, the Contentious-Administrative Court number 3 annulled the permit to operate the ship, at number 8 Calle de Alejandro Ferrant, next to the Miguel de Unamuno school.

Now, the Consistory has announced that it will appeal this sentence "because the legal services advise it."

“The decision is based on two fundamental issues: the environmental report indicated by the judge [which is lacking] was not necessary, according to all the municipal reports, and the legal report, which also indicates that it is missing, is included in the file.

Therefore, for legal certainty, the lawyers recommend us to resort”,

It is a jug of cold water for the families of the students of this nursery and primary school, who did not stop at the inconvenience generated by the activity of these businesses and decided to go to court last year.

Those affected list the problems: noise, fumes, danger of being run over, smell of fried food, garbage... After learning of the judge's decision last week, they celebrated their victory.

"I annul the contested resolution for not being adjusted to the law," read those affected with joy.

What annulled this document was the license granted by the City Council for the start of the activity of the ghost kitchens for failing to comply with urban planning regulations.

The City Council indicates that “the entire license will be reviewed because there is a doubt regarding the history of the premises, in case there could have been a change of use in the sixties.

All the documentation will be studied and, if it is verified that this change of use existed, the license would be annulled”.

The kitchens began operating in September, coinciding with the start of the school year.

And the problems gradually increased in the neighborhood.

To this is added the smell of fried food that floods the schoolyard, which shares a wall with the ship.

But what worries parents the most is the road insecurity that children face when entering and leaving their classes.

due to the large number of motorcycle delivery men.

"With this decision, the City Council defends a city model in which families do not count and kicks its promises to work for safe school environments," say those affected.

And as they did a year ago, when their fight for the closure of these businesses began, they have opened a
