The Belgian government has significantly reduced security around the Jewish communities, banned kosher slaughter and there is activity to ban circumcision • On the other hand - Italy and Hungary are the most friendly countries for Jewish life in the EU

A comprehensive study of the quality of Jewish life in EU countries, conducted in the last two years, states that the least friendly countries to Jewish life in the EU are Belgium and Poland.

The Belgian government, which ranks last in research in terms of activity for the quality of Jewish life, has significantly reduced security around Jewish communities without consulting them, banned kosher slaughter, has an activity to ban circumcision, and has not appointed a coordinator to combat anti-Semitism.

The two most friendly countries for Jewish life in the European Union are Italy and Hungary.

The first comprehensive study on the quality of Jewish life in the European Union was presented at the annual conference of leaders of Jewish communities in Europe of the Association of Jewish Organizations in Europe (EJA) held in Budapest.

The study was conducted in the last two years in collaboration with the British Institute for the Study of European Jewish Policy and examined the performance of European governments regarding the key parameters required for Jewish existence and prosperity such as practical anti-Semitism and securing the Jewish community as well as religious freedom, cultivating Jewish culture 'M.

The study will also weigh on government performance data in previous surveys that surveyed the feelings of security of European Jews as well as the percentage of Jews who have experienced antisemitic incidents in person and the percentage of the public who hold negative views against Jews and Israel.

Of the 12 countries where most Jews live in Europe - in France the sense of security of the Jews is the most shaky.

Apparently for this reason, France is also one of the countries taking the most necessary steps to ensure the existence of the Jewish community.

The highest sense of security of Jewish communities is in Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Austria and Spain.

Belgium is the country that takes the least action for Jewish life in the country.

Public access to Jews and Israel is most positive in the Netherlands, Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Italy, and most negative in Austria, Hungary, Poland, and Belgium.

Despite this, Hungary ranks first among the countries with the lowest number of Jews who have experienced antisemitic attacks.

Immediately behind it stands Italy.

The countries in which Jewish life is most affected by anti-Semitism are Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.

The chairman of the Association of Jewish Organizations in Europe (EJA), Rabbi Menachem Margolin, emphasizes that the purpose of the study is not to clash with this or that government or to embarrass and campaign against this or that government but to create a comparative scientific infrastructure on Jewish quality of life in different European countries. Knowing what practical steps are needed to overcome the challenges that European Jews face today. "However," says Margolin, "the fact that there are residents who smile at us on the street and there is a general feeling that the government listens to community needs Does its utmost to ensure the development of the Jewish community.

"For example, Belgium is a country where the residents are generally satisfied, but when you go into details, you see that the country does the least for the continuation of Jewish life in Europe compared to all other European countries," said Rabbi Margolin.

The annual EJA conference is held this year in Budapest, the capital of Hungary in partnership with the Hungarian Jewish Communities Association EMIH, the Paris Consistory, the Jewish Agency, and separations of the Jewish communities in England, Ukraine, Poland, the Netherlands and more. Ministers and Members of Parliament from the countries of the continent and the European Union.
