Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Ukraine's declaration of neutrality "may be a good and acceptable solution to the current conflict."
Tokayev was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying today that he had told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call with him that “it may be a good agreement if Ukraine is a non-nuclear country and will not join any military organizations such as (NATO) and others, recalling that the agreement was almost reached with this.” Especially during the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul in late March.
Tokayev expressed his belief that this situation for Ukraine would be acceptable to Russia and the entire international community.
It is noteworthy that the last meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations was held in late March in Istanbul, where the sources of negotiations indicated at the time that the two sides had initially agreed on some items, including putting Ukraine outside the alliances.
Earlier today, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, confirmed that Western countries pushed the Kyiv regime to withdraw from the settlement negotiations with Moscow.
