Two French women, chemist Claude Grison and immunologist Élodie Belnoue, as well as Swiss engineer Madiha Derouazi received the prize for best inventor 2022 awarded by the European Patent Office (EPO) on Tuesday.

Claude Grison (CNRS) was rewarded in the “

” category for his work on plant eco-catalysts made from invasive plants, allowing the depollution of mining soils from metal-eating plants, and the creation of new molecules chemicals.
Élodie Belnoue, a former doctoral student in immunology at Bichat Hospital in Paris and now research director of the Swiss company Amal Therapeutics (Boehringer Ingelheim), was awarded in the SME category for the development with her Swiss biotechnology engineer teammate Madiha Derouazi of a new medical platform to manufacture therapeutic vaccines against different types of cancer.
