The prefect of Saône-et-Loire, a department placed on orange alert, called for vigilance, inviting residents to limit their trips outside and to
“bring in anything that may be sensitive to the weather”.
The hail indeed caused significant material damage in some municipalities such as Digoin.

"We suffered violent storms at the end of the afternoon, part of the city was devastated, in particular the city center, all the roofs have fallen.
We have a lot of water damage, in homes, businesses, municipal structures, in many businesses.
So far, no injuries have been reported.
Many concerts, planned as part of the music festival, have been canceled in several towns in the department such as Mâcon or Paray-le-Monial.
Wednesday, the stormiest day of the week
A violent storm also fell Tuesday evening on Bourges, in the Cher.
Large hailstones fell, causing panic among residents who were celebrating the music festival.
