The Miesbacher Volksfest returns to the Waitzinger Wiese after the Corona break.

The start includes a premiere: Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller taps into it for the first time.

Miesbach

– It is one of the most public acts of a mayor: tapping the first keg of beer in the local folk festival tent.

So far, however, the head of the town hall in Miesbach has not been able to use the flail.

Sure: His victory in the runoff election at the end of March 2020 fell fully into the first corona lockdown, and since then there has been an ebb in terms of folk festival fun.

The anticipation, but also the tension, should be correspondingly great for Braunmiller when he takes the stage in the tent on Friday, June 24th, to call out to the cheering crowd at 6.30 p.m. sharp: "O'zapft is."

Procession to kick off

Apart from the new man at the top of the town hall, much has remained the same at the traditional Miesbach folk festival.

At the start on Friday at 5.30 p.m. there will be a concert at the Bräuwirt before the procession takes you up to the Waitzinger Wiese.

According to host Anian Kurz, all marching club members receive a beer (normal price 9.70 euros) and a chicken as a welcome on the house.

Meanwhile, the merry-go-rounds are already happily doing their rounds.

Like the show booths, they start at 5 p.m.

In the tent, which will continue to be used after the end of the 100th anniversary of the Hopf wheat beer brewery, the focus is now on culinary and acoustics.

With suckling pig (Sunday, June 26), kettle meat (Monday, June 27) and the obligatory chicken, there are various delicacies on the menu.

The musical offer reads at least as varied.

The Miesbach town band will kick off on Friday, followed by the Oberlandexpress (Saturday, June 25th), Auerberger Tanzlmusi and Irschenberger Musi (June 26th), the Mangfalltaler (Monday, June 27th), the Miesbacher Windfeldmusi (Tuesday, June 28th). June), the Miesbacher Musikverein (Wednesday, June 29th), Flashlight (Thursday, June 30th), the Stürzlhamer Musikanten (Friday, July 1st), Woidrand Echo (Saturday, July 2nd) as well as the Eibergler and the Musikkapelle Niklasreuth (Sunday 3 July).

Many actions in the tent and in front of it

A look at the supporting program shows that it is definitely worth going to the folk festival on different days.

On Mason Monday (June 27) there is a lottery ticket (the main prize is a Oktoberfest table for ten people including food, two football tickets for the Allianz Arena as well as five liters of beer and five chicken at the folk festival), on Children's and Seniors' Day ( Wednesday, June 29th) a children's parade marches from the Waitzinger Keller to the folk festival, the youth group of the traditional costume association shows their skills, and two performances of the Punch and Judy show take place in the tent.

Traditionally, discounted prices apply in the amusement park on this day.

Saving foxes should also make a note of the day of the companies (Friday, July 1st): Here you can get a beer and a half chicken for 13 euros from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

In the truest sense of the word it's all happening outside with the showmen.

Here, visitors can take bumper car rides, enjoy the view from the 20-metre-high Ferris wheel and twirl around in break dances and crazy jumps.

The children's carousel and baby flight await the youngest festivalgoers.

It's about skill when throwing cans and cheating, about cosiness in the Alm-Café and of course at the delicacies.

But there will be no other folk festival classic this year: like Hausham, Miesbach will also forgo the big brilliant fireworks, according to Kurz.
