Kaufering – With foil, sword and saber.

Three active fencers in VfL Kaufering took part in the German wheelchair fencing championship in Böblingen.

While it was the second time for Susanne Fischer, Alexander Mang and Michael Buchholz started for the first time – in category A. With success.

Saturday started with foil and saber.

Susanne Fischer started in both weapons disciplines, Mang and Buchholz only in the foil.

They still struggled a bit against the experienced opponents, but were able to score more and more goals in the course of the morning.

They finished the competition in 5th and 6th place. A satisfactory start.

Then the experienced tournament fencer Susanne Fischer took part.

She had some difficult battles on the agenda, but it was worth the effort: she secured the silver medal, which was her best finish on a German to date.

Then the saber competition continued.

Although this is actually Fischer's weaker weapon, she was able to make her mark last year with the bronze medal.

And of course it should now be confirmed.

At least.

The Kauferinger also succeeded in doing that, she fought a few good fights and finally secured 2nd place.

Silver number two in the pocket.

On the last day of the competition, the sword was on the program.

All three fencers from Kaufering were there again.

As on the day before, there were some ups and downs here too. Mang and Buchholz fought for 6th and 7th place, Fischer rolled up the field from behind: Initially a little too hesitant on the track, she was able to collect more and more hits and found herself ultimately in the grand finale again.

Now she not only wanted to see the gold medal, but also to call it her own.

In a gripping and close fight, she finally scored the decisive goal.

With that, Susanne Fischer took first place, gold and the German championship title.
