You will soon be able to resell your Ouigo train tickets

2022-06-21T13:42:25.820Z

If the train is full within a few weeks, the places can be made available to other travelers thanks to a waiting list. Resellers can recover 80% of the ticket value.

Ouigo regulars know this situation well: in the event of an impediment, it is impossible to postpone or cancel your trip.

Unlike TGV inOui or Intercités tickets, Ouigo tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.

A rigid commercial policy specific to low-cost companies, in rail and air transport.

As a result, if something unexpected prevents you from leaving, the ticket is lost.

Acceptable if you paid 20 € for it, but more problematic if you spent a hundred euros, as is often the case during periods of great departures... There is a trick that Ouigo regulars pass on to each other on Facebook groups: resell their ticket to another passenger by simply changing the name of the reservation for €10.

But all the difficulty is to find a person who must travel at the same time and the same day... Good news, travelers will soon be able to resell their ticket to other customers if their train is full.

The low-cost subsidiary of the SNCF, which has joined forces with the young company Fairlyne, plans to set up this system "

in a few days

" for a period of five months.

Concretely, if you can no longer travel, you can make your place available to another traveller.

If it finds a buyer, you get 80% of the ticket price, while the buyer pays the normal price.

Conversely, people who want to borrow a Ouigo displayed as "full" can register without obligation on a waiting list.

Thus, as soon as a customer gives up his place, potential buyers are notified.

With this service, the low-cost commercial rail service launched by the SNCF wishes to “

One in ten passengers would not board the train they have booked.

A practice that penalizes other travelers who, failing to find an available train, remain at the platform.

However, 20% of Ouigo circulate being full, a rate which rises to 40% during the summer holidays.
