In order to allow the general public to watch the regatta from a different angle, feel the fiery atmosphere of the regatta and also congratulate the return, the Hong Kong Yacht Club Charity Foundation invited local primary and secondary schools and non-profit-making organizations to visit the Hong Kong Yacht Club on the regatta day. In addition to returning to regatta, they also participated in a luncheon and a lecture on marine conservation, which added another layer of meaning to the return to regatta.

"I usually just enjoy the night view of Hong Kong on both sides of the Victoria Harbour, and rarely pay attention to sailing competitions." Yang Shiyu, 17, is from Yan Chai Hospital No. 2 Middle School. She and 6 other classmates accompanied by the school teacher accompanied the yacht in Hong Kong. Invited by the Association Charity Foundation to attend the event on the day.

Shi Yu and other students were very excited. Since they have never been in contact with sailing boats, this time they were able to see the Victoria Harbour from a different angle and enjoy the sailing race "in the city".

The 18-year-old Zhong Baoyi is one of the classmates of Yan Chai Hospital No. 2 Middle School. She said that Hong Kong used to be a small fishing port. Today, it is very meaningful to celebrate the return with a sailing regatta in the iconic Victoria Harbour.

A total of seven people from Yan Chai Hospital No. 2 Middle School participated in the activity. Teacher Qiu, who led the team, said that after the activity, all the students expressed their great interest in sailing and hoped to have the opportunity to try new things in the future.

6 students from Cai Yantao Primary School of Renji Hospital participated in the activity. Among them, Yan Rennong and Chen Zichun were both third graders of primary school. The former was a good swimmer and the latter was a female canoe captain. The two had no knowledge of sailing.

Teacher Liang, the leader of the team, said that the two children had already expressed their eagerness to wait before the departure. Even though the "weather was not as expected" and it rained torrentially, they persevered and took the opportunity to take pictures, hoping to share the activities with their families when they returned home.

Representatives of Plastics Free Seas attended the event on that day to spread the message of caring for the ocean to the participants.

Ocean conservation talks benefit students

Teachers Qiu and Liang said that another highlight of the event was the ocean conservation lecture hosted by Plastics Free Seas.

While watching the regatta, participants must learn the importance of caring for the ocean and achieve sustainable development.

Mr. Qiu said, "The lecture on 'Plastic-Free Ocean' is really good. The lecture cited many specific examples and deepened the students' memory." Mr. Liang said that all the primary school students were very engaged, and they raised their hands more actively to respond to questions, which increased on-site exchanges and discussions. interactivity.
