For almost 500 passengers on an ICE, it was neither forward nor backward on Tuesday afternoon.

The power went out.

The passengers were stuck without air conditioning.

Forchheim – With the current temperatures, one is grateful for any well-cooled room or some shade.

Good for those who have air conditioning.

However, if the good piece fails, it can get very hot very quickly.

Especially when you're stuck in a locked metal tube with 470 other people.

This is exactly what happened to the passengers of an ICE near Forchheim, about 35 kilometers north of Nuremberg.

ICE stays on track - train rams overhead line

At around 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, the ICE stopped in the middle of the route.

The Deutsche Bahn train was actually traveling from Nuremberg towards Hamburg.

But near Forchheim he must have collided with parts of the overhead line.

There should have been a loud bang.

The power was gone and the train didn't move an inch.

In addition, the air conditioning also failed without power supply.

So the 470 passengers were stuck and had to sweat a lot.

Because, at around 2:30 p.m., the thermometer in the area was already showing 26 degrees.

So the ICE heated up properly without air conditioning.

A passenger spoke on

Bild.de

that it was around 40 degrees in the car.

However, Deutsche Bahn did not comment on this claim.

At least there were drinks for the passengers.

The train staff distributed water, it was said.

The passengers had to eke out around two hours before help finally arrived.

The train pulled the stranded ICE back to Forchheim station, where it arrived at around 4:45 p.m.

There the travelers could finally leave the hot metal tube.

The breakdown also delayed further train traffic on the Nuremberg-Bamberg route.

There were train cancellations.

A few days ago, 150 passengers on a regional train near Günzburg felt the same way.

The train also stopped and the air conditioning failed.

Here the outside temperature was even above the 30 degree mark.
