As part of the activities of the “Don’t Be Silent” campaign to combat domestic violence, the Syrian Commission for Family and Population Affairs, in cooperation with Deir Ezzor Governorate, organized a workshop to introduce the services of the Commission and its Family Protection Unit.
Member of the Executive Office of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Dr. Siham Al-Khater, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the workshop aims to introduce national institutions and NGOs to the Protection Unit, which was established in March 2017 on International Women’s Day to provide protection services for children and women and to establish an integrated system that provides all kinds of assistance necessary to protect those exposed. to violence.
Al-Khater pointed out that the workshop included introducing the Family Protection Unit, the services provided, the mechanisms of acceptance and communication with it, and the agencies cooperating in the unit's work, namely the police, the judiciary, health, education, endowments and civil society.
Al-Khater indicated that the United Nations Population Fund provides support for the unit's services and activities, and the authority is working to develop service levels in the unit to keep pace with the highest levels of quality.
Al-Khater indicated that this year, the authority launched the "Don't Be Silent" campaign aimed at stopping violence against women in all its forms so that women take their place in order to achieve balance and stability for the family and society.
