Damascus-SANA

The plastic art audience had a creative space to follow the works of a large number of artists from the eighties generation in the annual exhibition organized by the Syrian Plastic Artists Union in Damascus.

The exhibition, which witnessed the reopening of the main Arab gallery hall, which is one of the old halls concerned with plastic life in Syria, included about 100 plastic paintings and other sculptures by artists from different governorates.

The assistant of the Minister of Culture, Engineer Sana Al-Shawa, explained that this exhibition represents the product and development of the work of the Syrian plastic artists, indicating that Al-Riwaq Hall is the home of the Syrian plastic artists and the meeting place for their creativity.

The head of the branch of the Union of Fine Artists Irfan Abi Al-Shamat explained to SANA that the exhibition is distinguished by his new works, which are for the great artists in the plastic life, in addition to the fact that it includes young artists.

In turn, Director of the Directorate of Fine Arts Waseem Abdel Hamid pointed out that the importance of the exhibition lies in the reopening of this hall, which was engraved in the memory of Syrian artists, in addition to the fact that it gathers artists from all governorates.

The artist, Farid Shankan, participated in a work entitled The Blue Moon, in which he focused on the Syrian antiquities, including the antiquities of Ugarit, where the blue color was combined with gray.

Artist Eva Al-Abbas participated in a painting in which she expressed the radiances inspired by the Arab East, while the sculptor Ghazi Aana participated in a sculptural work of wood in a simplified abstract style.

As for the artist, Issam Al-Mamoun participated in a work in which he moved away from repetition, which is a sculpture made of palm bamboo, a durable and lightweight material, in addition to incorporating acrylic backgrounds. The aim of this work, as he put it, is to create a new visual scene for the recipient.

The artist, Osama Diab, also participated in a work about women, using earthen colors using acrylic technology.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Riwaq Al-Arabi Gallery, affiliated to the Union of Plastic Artists, has hosted exhibitions of major artists since its establishment 40 years ago, and had its own mark on the history of plastic art in Syria.
