A court in Argentina has decided to prosecute the 19 crew members of a Venezuelan-Iranian plane that has been detained in Buenos Aires since the beginning of the month under "terrorism ties" clauses.
Local authorities suspect in particular the figure of the Iranian pilot Golmarza, whose picture was first published in "Israel Today", and who was a senior member of the Revolutionary Guards with the rank of brigadier general.
"As the investigation progresses here, some traces have arisen and it is necessary to continue the investigation against material gulmerza, against the entire crew, the plane and the goods, according to state obligations to prevent punitive acts of terrorism," the indictment filed by prosecutor Cecilia Incardona last night (Tuesday).
The plaintiff also suspects the real mission of the Venezuelan Emtrasur aircraft, a plane that until a year ago belonged to the Iranian Mahan Air, due to the work that its air crew included 14 Venezuelan citizens and five Iranian citizens, including the pilot, co-pilot and three others whose role is unclear.
The Argentine government, including the head of local intelligence, Agustin Rossi, have denied since the beginning of the incident that it has received international attention any connection to a suspicious action and claimed that the suspicious crew were in fact "pilot instructors" on an apprenticeship mission.
However, last week it became known that foreign agencies had warned in advance about the mysterious flight to their counterparts in Paraguay to other countries, including Argentina and Uruguay.
Since June 8, after the plane was denied entry into Uruguay, the crew has been forced to return to Aziza International Airport in Buenos Aires, where it was detained by the authorities along with the entire crew of the plane.
"This is a joint intelligence operation of the SEBIN (Venezuelan Intelligence Service) and Iranian intelligence," opposition Argentine Congressman Gerardo Milman told Israel Today last week.
Now, 19 staff members will remain detained in Argentina without the possibility of leaving the country, their passports have been confiscated and the investigation around them continues.
