The outgoing Secretary for Food and Health, Sophia Chan, attended the last Legislative Council meeting in office today (22nd) and took the initiative to meet the media. She described the successor and the new Director of the Medical and Health Bureau, Lu Chongmao, as her character, who will rise to the challenge and believe that the Medical and Health Bureau can protect the health of Hong Kong people.
Xin Lu Chongmao faced difficulties like himself
Looking back on his work in the past five years, Chen Zhaoshi started choking when he spent nearly half of the time in controlling the epidemic. He also pointed out that other policies are very important to public health and the medical system, and the authorities have been making unremitting efforts to promote them.
She thanked Carrie Lam who could not hold back her tears: "Thanks to the Chief Executive, Mrs. Lam, for her trust and support, and of course to the accountability team and the Food and Health Bureau, the Department of Health, the Hospital Authority, the FEHD, the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and the government. The colleagues in the laboratory, especially in the past two years or so, have spared no effort in the fight against the epidemic."
She said that she will contribute to Hong Kong by serving in different positions in the future. She believes that Hong Kong's medical care still faces many challenges, including the epidemic and insufficient medical manpower, which will bring many challenges to the future work of the Medical and Health Bureau.
She said that the successor, Lu Chongmao, was her colleague who had been at HKU for many years, and "has the same character as me to face difficulties." She believes that the Medical and Health Bureau can continue to face difficulties and protect the health of Hong Kong people.
When asked if he had failed to fight the epidemic and whether he would apologize to the more than 9,000 people who died from the epidemic, Chen Zhaoshi left without a response.
