The Academy of the Arabic Language in Damascus held a reception this morning for the new member, Dr. Shafiq Al-Bitar, where he was imitated the insignia of the Academy in the lecture hall of the complex.
The head of the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sayed, said in his speech: The joining of new members to the complex contributes to the service of our classical Arabic language, which is the title of our Arab personality, our self-identity, the spirit of our nation and the carrier of its culture.
He added: The complex’s march during more than a century was obsessed with serving our Arabic language, preserving its integrity, and making it fulfill the demands of literature, sciences and arts, and suited to the needs of advanced life, and cared for reviving the nation’s heritage in sciences, arts and literature.
Dr. Wahb Roumieh, a member of the Academy, presented the biography of the new member, who spent seventy-five years.. of them in studying books, giving and loving people. He is a serious researcher, an auditor, an able investigator, a scholar of grammar, morphology and presentation, and a knowledge of many fields of heritage and its knowledge systems, and his great belief in serving the Arabic language and its immortal heritage. Indicating that he has many books, literature and research, in addition to his literary talent, through which he wrote a play derived from the heritage entitled "Laban of the Camel" and wrote more than fifty songs for the Arab Home Program and wrote the same for children.
The new member, Al-Bitar, spoke about his late predecessor, Dr. Ihsan Al-Nass, indicating that he was born in Damascus in 1919. He summarized the most important literary books, at the forefront of which is “The Book of Songs.” He also contracted with Kuwait University and spent ten years there. When he returned to Damascus, he headed the Department of Arab Civilization in the Arabic Encyclopedia Authority. He was elected as a member of the Arabic Language Academy in 1979 and was appointed Vice President of the Academy in 1993.
Al-Bitar indicated that the late Ihsan has a large number of books, literature and research, including the pioneer in Arabic literature and rhetoric in the Umayyad era, Hassan bin Thabit, his life and poetry, and Zuhair bin Abi Salma.. his life, poetry, spinning in the Umayyad era and many others, in addition to many articles he published in a number of Syrian magazines and encyclopedias. and Arabic.
