The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, announced on Tuesday that the health emergency measure due to the covid-19 pandemic will be lifted as of July 1.
In a speech from the Casa de Nariño, Duque explained that in the country they have achieved the vaccination of an important part of the population, so it will not be necessary to continue with the measure.

"After 840 days, on June 30 the health emergency in Colombia is lifted. There are no epidemiological reasons, scientifically analyzed by the committee, to maintain it," said the president.
For his part, the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, explained that they had been studying the lifting of the measure for several weeks and that it was after analyzing the data that they were able to give the green light to end the health emergency.
