The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda has set the next two days for selling the first batch of pistachio grafting pens, within the agricultural centers of Kom El-Hassar and Naba’ Ora.
The head of the plant production department in the directorate, Eng. Akram Saray El-Din, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the directorate has today hired grafting pens of the Batori variety from the Hama Agriculture Directorate to sell them to farmers at a symbolic price of 500 Syrian pounds per pen in order to vaccinate the seedlings they have.
And Eng. Saray El-Din pointed out that the directorate has provided, during the past months, about 16,000 seedlings, the majority of which are pistachio seeds, for cultivation, in order to serve the expansion of the cultivated areas and the increase of agricultural production.
The total area planted with pistachios in As-Suwayda is 5,930 dunums, comprising about 120 thousand trees, of which the fruit is more than 97 thousand trees.
