Shortly before the start of the holiday, the federal police announced reinforcements for the security checks at Düsseldorf Airport.

A second service provider has been found who will also take over three control lanes, said federal police spokesman Jens Floren on Wednesday on request.

The "Neue Rhein/Ruhr-Zeitung" (NRZ) had previously reported on it.

Düsseldorf – The second service provider will start work on Friday when the holidays begin.

"We hope that this will help to equalize the situation - especially at peak times," said Floren.

The Federal Police hopes that the deployment of temporary staff in addition to the fully trained aviation security assistants will further relieve the burden.

These would take care of the briefing of the passengers and the return of the luggage trays.

According to Flören, 22 temporary workers are already in action, another 40 would take their exam with the federal police on Wednesday and then be deployed immediately, and an additional 60 would be security checked.

Experience has shown that the start of the summer holidays is the busiest time at the airport.

Due to a lack of staff, there were always long waiting times at the checkpoints at the airport.

At the beginning of the year, the Federal Police had already re-advertised the security checks.

However, no company had applied.

Now a company with the relevant experience at other airports has approached the Federal Police on its own initiative.
