This is a new flash mission announced by the government.

After that for the emergency services launched by Emmanuel Macron last May, it is the turn of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Marc Fesneau to launch a "flash mission to assess the damage in the agricultural world", this Wednesday.

This announcement follows the episodes of hail which affected the Centre-Val-de-Loire and the south-west of France, on the nights of June 20 and 21, impacting winegrowers in particular.

In a press release, Marc Fesneau says he wants to "precisely assess the damage in a very short time".

“This will also allow us to identify adaptation levers in the short and medium term to be even more resilient,” he added.

Three members of the General Council for Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas (CGAAER) will compose this flash mission which “will take place as close as possible to the actors of our agriculture, in connection with the insurers”, assured the ministry.

It will last two weeks.

At the end of this period, “practical elements to better adapt current and future tools to the needs of farmers, faced with these intense climatic phenomena” will be proposed.

A “national solidarity”

On the move this Tuesday in Loir-et-Cher, Marc Fesneau had promised farmers hard hit by climatic hazards "national solidarity" and "prevention devices" to deal with disasters.

“We need to be able to assess the damage and then assess the part that will be taken by insurance (for those who are insured) and the part that will be taken by national solidarity,” the minister said.

“National solidarity must be expressed, it is binding on everyone.

We will deal with cases on a case-by-case basis.

Each farmer is a special case,” he added.

For example, in Gironde, the damage to crops and vines is "catastrophic", the chamber of agriculture said on Tuesday, "corn, vines, field vegetables: no production seems to have been spared" in northern Gironde , according to a press release.
