The hours after the Moosburg storm were a Herculean task for the emergency services.

Now they take stock - and send emotional lines to their families.

Moosburg

– The severe storm in the Moosburg area had dramatic consequences for people who had an accident on Monday, and entire areas were devastated.

The innumerable full-time and volunteer emergency services were challenged accordingly: it is thanks to them that the population was spared even more dramatic effects and the disaster situation quickly returned to normal.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The Moosburg fire brigade alone can look back on more than 1000 hours of operation within a good 24 hours, which had to be called out 134 times.

Almost all vehicles and up to 65 Moosburg Floriansjünger were in action, they were supported by other forces from the surrounding fire departments, the aid organizations, the civil protection, the rescue service and the technical relief organization.

Moving thanks from the rescuers to their relatives

As those responsible for the volunteer fire brigade write on their Facebook and Instagram pages, they are not only grateful to the many forces, but also to "the families, partners, children and employers of our emergency services".

Because: "They not only had to do without us for the last few hours, but this year a little more often." 251 missions - without exercises and security guards - have already been managed in the current half year.

A response from the town hall followed after just six minutes: "On behalf of the city and all citizens, a big thank you for your commitment and your quick help, not just yesterday," commented local chief Josef Dollinger on the Facebook post.

"We are proud of the professionalism and effectiveness of our three fire brigades in our city!" Many citizens agreed with the words of the mayor.

Large-scale catering organized for helpers

The Red Cross and the Johanniter Unfallhilfe were also on site with a large contingent.

As spokesman Paul Eisenmann reported for the BRK, in addition to the full-time rescue workers from the Moosburg, Nandlstadt and Freising guards, more than 50 volunteers from the Freising Red Cross were deployed.

Not only medical help and emergency preparedness were required, but also the care of the well over 200 members of all organizations involved: “Many of the emergency services had just been preparing dinner when the radio pager alerted them.

It was therefore particularly important to quickly strengthen the hard-working emergency services with food," explained Florian Strömsdörfer from the BRK care and catering service.

His unit quickly organized 400 rolls as well as drinks and small chocolate snacks.

Severe weather in Moosburg: After a fatal accident, specialists were in demand

The BRK specialist service for psychosocial emergency care, which looked after the relatives of the person who died in an accident, was also particularly challenged.

From the BRK's point of view, people are generally satisfied with the processes in the operation, as the organizational manager, Stefan Anneser, said: "The operation in Moosburg shows once again the high level of commitment of our volunteers and the professionalism with which our people work for the common good ."

Dispose of branches from the storm free of charge

Because the storm on Monday caused significant damage to a large number of trees, the city of Moosburg is now offering its citizens a free disposal option to remove the broken branches.

At the Bauhof, Böhmerwaldstr.

35, Astwerk can still be delivered at the following times: Thursday, June 23, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.;

Friday, June 24, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Those responsible in the town hall expressly point out “that this special date is used exclusively to eliminate the storm damage and no other green waste, such as e.g.

B. clippings, is accepted”.
