This is the first speech by the Head of State since the political crisis opened on Sunday with the loss of his absolute majority.

A speech that closes 48 eventful hours for the President of the Republic, who received the leaders of political parties.

Emmanuel Macron will speak this Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a speech, announces the Elysee, three days after the setback suffered by his party in the second round of the legislative elections.

This will therefore be the first speech by the Head of State, since the political crisis opened on Sunday with the loss of his absolute majority in the legislative elections.

He completed his tour de table of political forces on Wednesday, in search of a difficult consensus in the National Assembly and is making this speech before being caught up in a series of international commitments, including the European Council from Thursday in Brussels.

Towards a “government of national unity”?

The president has taken the temperature with the opposition since Tuesday.

He will indeed have to compose, and make sure to be able to dialogue with the leaders of the parties and if some praise the listening of the Head of State, others warn that there will be no question of stepping aside in favor of a common project and a government of national unity.

This Wednesday the leader of the RN, newly appointed head of her group in the Assembly, estimated in front of the cameras that “the situation did not justify” such an agreement with the majority.

In the absence of an absolute majority, the president will indeed have to compose and negotiate with each other to push through his reforms.

A balancing act that could lead to dissolution in the event of paralysis.
