It is actually very excessive if one delves deeply into the long history of the left in legislative elections.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon's strategy has certainly paid off in appearance: by winning 131 seats in the National Assembly, the New People's Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) has won more than double the seats won in 2017. The left-wing parties would never be achieved such a result without this alliance covering 70 constituencies.
