Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called for the lifting of Western sanctions imposed on Russia, stressing that these sanctions negatively affect developing countries.
"It is necessary to abolish the sanctions imposed on Russia... Some compare the behavior of Europe and the United States with economic suicide," Maduro was quoted by local Venezuelan media as saying in a speech posted on his Twitter page today.
Maduro considered that the European and American elites are deaf and blind and do not want to see the real situation because of arrogance, a sense of superiority and the desire to take revenge on Russia.
America and European countries imposed unfair economic sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of its special military operation in Ukraine in late February, and these sanctions led to damage to the global economy as a result of the rise in the prices of oil, gas, grains and minerals.
